Overview of BBC Radio Channels
Overview of BBC Radio Stations
BBC Radio One: Created for young people. Plays tracks and artists that are current in the charts. There are regular DJs on there who talk to the audience and also interview artists. They have a breakfast show hosted by Nick Grimshaw that involves a lot of speech. Every week there is a chart show showcasing the most popular music of the week.
BBC Radio 1XTRA: Created for young people particularly teenagers and young adults. Plays current music. Plays a lot of grime. Has a popular segment called 'Fire in the Booth' hosted by Charlie Sloth where rappers can freestyle to a beat. Some comedians got their big breaks on this. These include Big Shaq and Roll Safe (R.S).
BBC Radio Two: Their target audience is probably middle-aged when listening to it. There was quite a few song playing from the 80s so I can assume that it is made for people who were young in that era. They also have a breakfast show hosted by Chris Evans.
BBC Radio Three: Plays classical music. Seems like it's made for middle-aged people. Has a section in the afternoon from the British symphony orchestra.
BBC Radio Four: BBC Radio Four does not play music and has different shows on throughout the day that can target a number of audiences. These can include: The Late Night Woman's Hour, Radio dramas, The news and gardening programmes.
