Marvel's Black Panther Trailer

Black Panther was a highly mainstream Action Superhero film directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed). It stars Chadwick Boseman reprising his role as T'Challa/Black Panther from Captain America: Civil War. Black Panther has made history as it is the first ever superhero movie to have a predominantly black cast. Coogler is also the first black director to work on a Marvel film. The film will automatically be highly anticipated due to Marvel already having an extremely high fan-base, both due to the comic-book source material and the 16 previous movies that have been released in the past. The film consists of a lot of panning wide shots in order to show how large the nation represented in the film is. The outside scenery is also very bright and colourful with many settings standing out such as the African plains and the waterfalls. The mise-en-scene is also very vibrant. Many of the characters wear traditional African clothing and have traditional tribal symbols. The trailer targets the audience by showing large settings, the main stars and use of the CGI showing off their budget. It also contains mainstream rap music in the background.

Lady Bird Trailer

Lady Bird is an example of an Independent film trailer. Its trailer is very slow and takes the audience on a brief journey through the main character's life. It focuses more on the rural settings immediately showing the audience where the narrative will take place. You get an introduction into who the characters are and how their relationship is with the main character. The background music is very soft showing that this will not be an intense big-budget blockbuster, instead being a coming of age story. The mise-en-scene is made to take place in a very realistic landscape. There are many close ups of the main characters face showing what her emotions will be like throughout. This film is not expected to automatically make as much money as a mainstream film so more of the narrative would have had to be included in order to encourage the audience to go and watch the film.
