Brief 1: Television

I will choose Brief 1: Television. The genres that I would most likely choose are is a teen comedy disguised as a crime drama as they do not require as high a budget as other genres such as sci-fi. The teen comedy element is inspired by such shows as The Inbetweeners. The crime drama element is a mixture between a film and an existing television show: a scene from Captain America: Winter Soldier and the Daredevil TV series. Both are action set pieces that are grounded in reality and feature fast-paced action in one set location.

There will be 2 main characters- the protagonist and the antagonist- and couple of goons/villain characters. The scene will be a point of conflict between these two characters. A criminal running from another character presumably a detective. At first the scene will be fast-paced with a variety of camera angles showing them running. They can include low shots of the character's feet as they run past. The scenes will consists of a number of mid-shots of the 2 characters running. The other shots that I may include are a pull-out shot, a wide shot and possible close-ups of the characters. The main sequence featured will be an extremely long shot where all the characters are moving in and out of the frame. The twist is that everything is

The channel it is intended for is Channel 4. It is the type of show that would be shown in the 9 o'clock time slot. The target audience is 18-35 year olds so the scene can be a bit dark and gritty. It is intended to be a scene in an action show so the audience will have an expectation of some sort of violence or conflict. Also, the fact that it is not aimed for young people means that there can be a significant amount of action without having to tone it down. I aim to have set it in a dark corridor and up and down a flight of stairs.

For the print element of it, I will most likely include a front cover and a double paged spread to advertise the show. There would be a picture of the main character featured with the title of the show. Along with that, there could be another picture in the double pages featuring a snapshot taken from the filmed scene. In the article, I will most likely have to create some context behind the show as I do not envision the scene taking place in the first episode. As a result of this, there will likely be a recap on events that occurred before the scene. There would also have to be a brief explanation of what will happen in this episode, encouraging the reader to watch it, whilst not giving away too many details about it.
